Australia's Biggest Morning Tea"Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea is an opportunity for friends, family or workmates to come together, share a cuppa and some delicious food, whilst helping those affected by cancer. Thousands of people from all over the country will host morning tea events - in their homes, in the community, or at work. Small and large, formal and informal, these events rely on the passion, generosity and goodwill of both hosts and guests." The staff thoroughly enjoyed Australia's Biggest Morning Tea organised by Ms Jessup's Community Service Group (CSG) today. Ms Quine, Ms McKay, Learning Support and the Wollemi staff were all part of the team that made our morning tea delicious and more importantly, raised close to $400.00 for The Cancer Council. Thanks to all the parents and staff who donated prizes, your support is truly appreciated.

Michael was educated for 6 years here and was School Captain in 2001. He remembers this time fondly and was keen to address the students which he did at our morning assembly. Michael joined the RAAF in 2007 and graduated from his flying course two years later. He did spend some time being educated at the University of Wollongong but had known from a young age that he wanted to fly. There were quite a few obstacles that he talked about with the students, not least being his eyesight and a football injury. He overcame both.
A number of students keen to join the RAAF spoke with Michael after his address and asked some great questions. Michael really emphasised that students should take all opportunities available at school, especially sporting and other extra-curriculum activities. He also felt that the school ethos and culture had really prepared him for his life after school. Flying Office Oliver is currently based in Townsville with 38 Squadron flying KingAir 350s. He specialises in topographic survey and light transport. The school would appreciate, if possible, parental phone calls alerting us if your son or daughter is ill on any of these three days. It is important to note that NAPLAN is not a test of content. Instead, it tests skills in literacy and numeracy that are developed over time through the school curriculum. Excessive test preparation using previous tests is not useful. Parents can read more information about the process here. Sample papers and other support can also be found here to assist students prepare for these important examinations. Good luck Years 7 and 9!
Royal Easter ShowLast week Ms Gore, Ms Leighton and Ms Ryan were extremely lucky to take 67 fine TAS students to the Sydney Royal Easter Show. It was a glorious day exploring the many displays the show offers. Students looked at farm animals, wood chopping and food tasting stalls. Two students, Karissa and Erin were lucky enough to have a photo with Doctor Harry of Better Homes and Gardens. Everyone enjoyed show bags and rode some great rides. Ms Leighton was game enough to ride the with Michaela and Zoe and there is a photo to prove it.
What a great day! Last Updated (Friday, 05 April 2013 22:51) |
