The way parents and carers manage and respond to those we care for has an immediate impact on levels of stress and emotion we all experience. This is the message of a free workshop for families and carers to be held next week on Friday 4th September. We can’t control what others do or say, but we can manage how we react and this practical and down-to-earth workshop gives demonstrations and strategies that will benefit every parent and carer.
Ms Georgia Leach and Ms Fiona McKay attended a ‘professional’ version of this family workshop last Friday and can highly recommend both the presenters and the content. It will be well worth your time and effort to go to this FREE workshop. Full details on the flier.
“Every parent and carer in the world needs to go to this workshop!”

Information for parents and carers:
Schools across Australia are taking part in a new national data collection on school students with a disability. From 2015, this information is collected in every school across Australia annually. The aim is to provide better information about students with a disability in school settings. It is a requirement for all schools to contribute to this data collection in the August census and as a school we will provide the government with non-identifying information about students with a disability in our setting.
Further information is available about the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data for School Students with a Disability for those wishing to know more. You may wish to read the 2015 information fact sheet for parents and carers and further information on the updated privacy notice can be found here and here.
All Year 9 students will be participating in the Work Ready Program which is to run for a full day at Dapto High School on the 17th June 2015.
Students will be actively involved in a variety of group activities which will assist students in confidently participating in future work experiences in years 9 & 10.
Students are to be full school uniform, morning and lunch breaks will be as usual. The day will commence on the quad after roll call.

The Minister for Education has made changes to attendance and how it is recorded. This is now referred to ACARA National Standards for Student Attendance Data Reporting. This may affect your child/ward’s attendance records.
The major change is Holidays taken by students outside of school vacation periods will now be included as absences. A Certificate of Exemption can no longer be granted for this period. This means all holidays will be recorded as absences on your child/ward’s report.
Read all of the changes in the parent letter here.
